Scope of the project

Aeco and Acerta created a tooling platform for Belgian self employed person. The platform contains several tools to help self employed persons with tax and legal questions. More specifically, the tools are focussed on self employed persons with a secondary occupation. These persons combine at least two types of employment under Belgian laws. They gain part of their income from an independent activity and the other part from other activities e.g. as employee or civil servant.

Due to the combination of multiple regimes, they are frequently struggling with difficult questions. The tools on the tooling platform are designed to help them find answers to their questions in a innovative way.

Tool #1: Social security calculator

The first tool is a social security calculator that helps self employed with a secondary activity to determine how much social security they will have to pay for their self employed activity.

Tool #2: Determine my self employed status

The second tool is a tool that helps determine the self employed status for the persons concerned. The favourable regime for persons with a secondary occupation is only available if a number of conditions are met. The tool helps the user check these conditions one by one and facilitates the application of this complex regime.
